Summit of Heads of State or Government
The SACU Summit consists of the Heads of State or Government from each Member State. The Summit defines the political and strategic direction as well as priorities of SACU. The Summit also oversees the work of the Council of Ministers and meets at least once a year. The Chair of the Summit rotates amongst the Member States annually and in alphabetical order, on the 15th July.
The current Chair of SACU Summit is The Right Honourable, Mr. Samuel Ntsokoane Matekane, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho who took over from His Majesty King Mswati III of the Kingdom of Eswatini, with effect from 15th July 2023.
