The 55^th Meeting of the SACU Council of Ministers that was held on 5 December 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa and chaired by the Minister of Finance of South Africa, Hon. Enoch Godongwana. The Meeting was attended by the SACU Ministers responsible for Finance, Trade and Industry who deliberated on key policy issues of great importance to the region’s integration and development, including progress on the SACU Strategic Plan, revenue-sharing arrangements as well as the Secretariat’s Revised and Proposed Budgets for 2025/26 and 2026/27 Financial Years.

The Second Meeting of the SACU Task Team on Automotive and Mineral Beneficiation held on 21–23 October 2025 in Gaborone, Botswana and chaired by Mr Innocent Sbu Khumalo of the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition South Africa. The Meeting deliberated on issues related to the development of the SACU Smart Specialization Strategy for Automotive and Green Mineral Beneficiation which aims to promote regional value chains, enhance industrialisation and unlock investment opportunities across Member States.

The Meeting of the SACU Senior Trade Officials (STOs), chaired by the Deputy Director-General of the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition of South Africa, Ambassador Xolelwa Mlumbi-Peter, convened on 28–29 August 2025, in Johannesburg, South Africa. In her opening remarks, the Chairperson urged SACU to strategically positioning itself by leveraging new policy opportunities, addressing protectionist measures and fast-tracking market diversification. She emphasised the importance of leveraging trade agreement reviews (e.g. SACU-MERCOSUR PTA, SACU EFTA FTA and AfCFTA) to SACU's advantage and conducting a global scan for market access opportunities.
