Working Session of Risk Management, Compliance and Enforcement Experts

Participants at the Working Session of Risk Management, Compliance and Enforcement Experts, and nominated Other Government Agencies that was held on 1 – 5 April 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa, to complete the plans for delivery of the Joint Enforcement Operation. This session was chaired by the SACU Champion of Risk Management, Compliance, and Enforcement and Manager of Compliance Risk Analysis at RSL, Ms. Lineo Machobane.

Participants at the Working Session of AEO, IT, Legal, Monitoring and Evaluation, Capacity Building and Gender Mainstreaming, and nominated representatives of Government Agencies met on 1 – 5 April 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa, to complete the plan for the delivery of the Pilot for the SACU Regional AEO Programme Mutual Recognition Arrangement. This session was chaired by the SACU Champion of the AEO Programme and Senior Manager of AEO at SARS, Ms. Sithembile Magwaza.
26th Meeting of the SACU Heads of Customs

The 26th Meeting of the SACU Heads of Customs that was held on the 24th February 2025 in Windhoek, Namibia. The Heads of Customs engaged on progress update on the implementation of the SACU Customs Modernisation Program including successes achieved and areas of improvement towards the implementation of the SACU Regional AEO Program Mutual Recognition Arrangement, Automated Exchange of Information under IT Connectivity, Risk Management, Compliance and Enforcement, Harmonized System, Valuation and Rules of Origin, Capacity Building and Gender Mainstreaming, Customs Legal as well as Monitoring and Evaluation.
5th Meeting of SACU Commissioners General

The 5th Meeting of SACU Commissioners General that was held on the 25th February 2025 in Windhoek, Namibia. The Commissioners General held strategic engagements on areas that require their collective focus and effort to strengthen compliance to be able to curb revenue leakages whilst enhancing efficiencies to ease cross-border movement of goods. They applauded the Heads of Customs for the successes attained thus far and pledged their continued commitment to the SACU Programme.

1st Joint Council Meeting of the SACU- Mozambique-UK Economic Partnership Agreement

The Ministers and Senior Officials from the Southern African Customs Union Member States, Mozambique and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK), and the Executive Secretary of SACU, at the 1st Joint Council Meeting of the SACU- Mozambique-UK Economic Partnership Agreement that was held on 28th January 2025 in Gaborone, Botswana. The Ministers established the Institutional and Governance structures by adopting and signing decisions on the adopted Rules of procedure for the Joint Council, Trade and Development Committee as well as for Dispute Avoidance and Settlement and Code of Conducts.
