Conclusion of the Bilateral Tariff Negotiations between SACU and the EAC

CONCLUSION OF THE BILATERAL TARIFF NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN SACU AND THE EAC 1. The COMESA-EAC-SADC Tripartite Free Trade Area (TFTA), which was launched on 10th June 2015, aims to establish a single market for 27 African countries with a combined population of about 700 million people (57% of Africa’s population), and Gross Domestic Product above USD 1.4 trillion.


Joint Communique 1st EU-SADC EPA Joint Council Meeting

The first Meeting of the Joint Council of the EU-SADC (Southern African Development Community) Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), was held on Tuesday, 19th February 2019 in Cape Town, South Africa. Honourable Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of Botswana and EU Trade Commissioner, Cecilia Malmstrom co-chaired the meeting. Commissioner Malmstrom was accompanied by Honourable Ms Maria Magdalena Grigore, State Secretary for Development Cooperation of Romania and representing the Presidency of the Council of the EU.


Opening Remarks by the SACU Executive Secretary, Ms. Paulina M. Elago Official Handover of the outcomes of the WCO-SACU Connect Project

This ceremony marks the end of the WCO-SACU Connect Project which is a SACU Regional Customs Modernisation Programme. The Project was implemented as a collaboration between SACU Member States, WCO and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). The project started in 2008 and was implemented in two phases, respectively in 2008 to 2013; and 2014 to 2018. Today we will receive the presentation of the outcomes of the WCO-SACU Connect Project covering the period from February 2014 to December 2018.
